Vanguard Lure Series
The VANGUARD Series is the latest addition to the Tiamat Lures range.
FEATURES
The Tiamat Vanguard is a heavily keel weighted bullet with twin jets. The WC792 polyurethane used in the lure head construction ensures lifelong durability while remaining crystal clear.
Three models are available with a luminous shell insert while the fourth uses the amazing Bifrost insert. Check out the images on this page. Very sexy!
You can construct your Vanguard lure using three options. The first is have your lure skirted with the Tiamat Skirts that have UV-NexGen tech in the 80 skirt colour schemes. Second, have your Vanguard skirted in genuine Flashabou made in the USA. The third is the genuine Glow-In-The-Dark Flashabou which adds another dimension to your trolling pattern.
Tiamat Lure Wings can also be added to your Vanguard at the time of purchase using the selections shown in the shopping cart.
POSITION
Shotgun! …I hear you shout!
A lot of anglers see the default position for bullet style lures being the shotgun position. While this is an acceptable position for this style of lure, there are other practices you can employ when trolling a bullet style lure. Using a planer or paravane is one technique not fully exploited by anglers for example. Or rather than the shotgun position, try the Vanguard in the long corner or even off the long rigger.
When used in the long rigger position, you can set the Vanguard so it is just breaking the surface without blowing out. This technique of course depends on sea and wind conditions, but it is tragically an overlooked method of enticing a strike. Vanguards rigged with Tiamat Wings are deadly when employed this way.
The Vanguard can be run in all sea conditions and run up to 20 knots depending on drop back.
As the Vanguard is a bullet, you don’t need to correct the position or speed as you would a pusher or slant faced lure. The “correct” speed for a Vanguard is when the other lures in your pattern are working to their optimum level.
